Objective: Write a written proposal for your SIP. 

Bellwork: Write down the objective. READ BELOW 

Assignment


1. Review the Written Proposal for the SIP information (on the red sheet). 
2. Type up your Written Proposal (IT IS DUE By the end of the period TOMORROW)
3. Upload and drop box the typed proposal to your STUDENTVUE tomorrow. 
4. (5/9 -- IF your proposal is finished have 2 other students review it. Update it and upload both copies to studentvue.)
5. Post 1 question you have in the COMMENTS below.


IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 

Many of you have not completed the SIP FORMAL REFLECTION assignment from last week, which means I can't grade it. SO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW: 

1. See if you have posted your FORMAL REFLECTION on your blog as a separate page.
  • If you have and it doesn't show when you click VIEW BLOG, ask MRS. W for help

  • If you have and I missed PLEASE email me your URL or come see me (ME being MRS. WALKER) 

  • If you have NOT posted your formal reflection PLEASE do so BY FRIDAY MAY 12th!! It will be considered late with a 10% penalty (deduction of points). Note: I am giving you until Friday because I believe my instructions were somewhat unclear...

3. Review the BLOG POSTS requirements. YOU SHOULD have at least 10 dated from JANUARY!! 
 Requirements:

  • Post/Blog Page: Must be updated once a week with reflections/news about your SIP project.
    • 2 SUBSTANTIAL PARAGRAPHS each week with a post title
      • Demonstrate reflection on the progress being made on your SIP.
      • What kinds of things inspired you to write this week?
      • Discuss in length and detail what you have accomplished this week
      • Discus what you hope to accomplish the following week on your SIP.
      • Each WEEKLY reflection post should be written as if you are talking to your SIP’s readers.
      • If something kept you from writing on your SIP, you must detail what it was, why it kept you from writing, and how you will avoid this obstacle in the future.

4.  WRITE your FINAL FORMAL  Reflection on your SIP/#PVhasAuthors (due today!!) that covers the ENTIRE YEAR from when we started on this project. You may use the following questions as a guide to write your reflection: 

  1. What were the successes of your project?
  2. Were there any hurdles you had to overcome?
  3. Was there a point where you had to stop and readjust the project on a grand scale?
  4. What were the weaknesses of your project?
  5. What was the most important thing you learned throughout your project?
  6. If you were assigned this project again, what topic/goal would you choose?

Objective: Review requirements for your PITCH and the Written Proposal. 


Bellwork: Write down the objective. If you had to tell a publisher about your SIP right now, what would you tell them? Why do you think your story should be published? 

Classwork:  

1. Review the PITCH requirements HERE (Read through the requirements and write down any questions you have about it. COME SEE ME ASAP with those questions!!! 
2. Film your Pitch using your phone or one of MRs. Walker's tablets. Using the movie icon at the top of your blog post for today, try to upload your pitch. If you are having trouble come see me.

It's Storytelling TIME!!

Evaluate the storytelling process in order to continue to work on your SIP.

BELL WORK:
Write down the objective. What are your 3 favorite movies? What are your 3 favorite characters?


Assignments


1. Turn in your interview questions to Mrs. Walker electronically on Student Vue. You may type up the questions in a word doc. Interview assignment HERE

2. Visit Pixar in a Box: The Art of Story Telling: Pixar's The Art of Story Telling
 ~~~Watch ALL the videos and Complete at least 2 & 3 of the 4 activities -- you may do all of them. (AND put your answers in a blog POST). (Go to your blog through blogger.com, create a NEW POST)~~

3. After completing #2 above, write your weekly reflection (This should be Reflection #2)

Research MLA formatting and an element in your story in order to write a reflection on your progress.

BELL WORK:
Write down the objective. What is one element/thing/character/location in your story that you would like to do more research about?

If your SIP “original draft” is posted and your Static pages are finished,

1. Write 2- 5 questions regarding MLA requirements/formatting and 3 questions about an element in your story you would like to research (for instance, in my story I might research time periods or alternate realities or…) Complete research on these two topics, finding answers to your questions.

2. After -your research, complete a blog post about what you researched and the questions you answered. The Reflection posts should follow the following format
  • 2 SUBSTANTIAL PARAGRAPHS with a post title 
  • What were your questions for this week? What was learned as the questions were answered? 
  • What kinds of things inspired you to write this week? 
  • Includes a significant reflection on the information you found during your research. 
  • Notes plans and questions for next week about your SIP. 
  • Include a related image posted without infringing on anyone’s copyright. 
  • MLA formatted in-text citations and MLA formatted works cited at end of the post.

Write down the objective. What do you remember about the SIP requirements? Have you decided to change your SIP or continue what you started? Why?


ASSIGNMENTS

PART I: 
A. --- Log on to School City to complete the Assessment RI-3 (: RR_AZ_ELA_Grade11-12_RI.3 16-17_FormA) 

PART II: 
1. Visit Mrs. W’s blog. Read the information provided.

2. Review your blog. Review the requirements for your SIP and your Blog.

3. If your SIP “original draft” is posted and your Static pages are finished, please begin researching how to contact the author you would like to interview. Begin Writing your Interview questions. (These questions are due 2/22 – before rodeo break!!)  You may locate the interview questions HERE : Interview Requirements

4. Write a 250 word reflection on your writing progress. Your reflection should be at least 2 substantial paragraphs.  Use these questions as guides: What is it you would still like to do? Is there anything that you saw or heard this week that you would like to incorporate into your story? What occurred this week to keep you from writing as much as you would have liked to?  You will be graded on your reflection and closure.

The Return of the SIP

Oh, SIP, how I've missed fiddling with your words and letting you create your story....

OBJECTIVE:  Evaluate your current SIP in order to write a reflection and action plan.
BELL WORK:

Write down the objective. What do you remember about the SIP requirements? Have you decided to change your SIP or continue what you started? Why? 

Work for TODAY  (1/23)


  • Visit Mrs. W’s blog. Read the information provided. 
  • Review your blog. Read over the SIP you started. Make a decision: Will you continue on that SIP or use your Nano story as your SIP? 
  • Review the requirements. Review your Action plan and make any changes necessary. Review the Action Plan here  
  • If you  are changing your SIP, you need to make sure that you have an appropriate author. 
  • Make sure your Blog has its static pages set, and your original draft (base) of your SIP is posted. If you are choosing to change the SIP you started on, this one should remain on a Static Page entitled something like “What I started in August”. 
  • Write a 250 word reflection on your decision. Think and write about why you stayed with your original SIP or why you will be using your NANO. Discuss IN DETAIL what your story is about and how it might evolve throughout the next few months. Discuss the writing you have done since you last visited your blog/SIP. 
  • Continue to write on your SIP.
